This can be done as a solo, duo, or group practice. How do your surroundings, and your perceptions of them, respond? What happens as you attempt to recede into the environment you find yourself in? What does it feel like to practice one\u2019s extinction as a survival mechanism?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>playing dead variation a<\/strong><br><br>If you feel constrained or overly confronted by the task of playing dead, consider a spectral dance interlude:<br><br>Dance to acknowledge the known and unknown beings whose decomposing material bodies are now part of the substrate for the living.<\/p>\n<p>Roam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40%; margin-right: 40%;\">Visit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20%; margin-right: 20%;\">Be haunted.<\/p>\n<p>Receive and transmit messages that could be interpreted in multiple ways.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 60%;\">Vanish and reappear&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 90%;\">~#~<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20%;\">Leave something to support future generations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>playing dead variation b<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notice what is eating or digesting little pieces of you right now. You can decide in advance on an amount of time to spend in each phase, or toggle back and forth according to your own curiosity. When you are being witnessed, you may decide to close your eyes (if it is safe and comfortable to do so).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>When you are <em>witnessing<\/em> (use these ideas and\/or add your own): <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let your attention roam\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026do an environmental scan using one of your senses, then another, then another<\/p>\n<p>\u2026sweep your focus in regular and random patterns<\/p>\n<p>\u2026let movement carry your focus from one aspect to the next<\/p>\n<p>\u2026look up<\/p>\n<p>\u2026look down<\/p>\n<p>\u2026don\u2019t look; close your eyes<\/p>\n<p>\u2026notice what touches you<\/p>\n<p>\u2026consider the points at which all senses become tactile<\/p>\n<p>\u2026witness yourself as part of what is happening<\/p>\n<p>\u2026witness the actions that are happening because of your presence<\/p>\n<p>\u2026witness the actions that do not happen because of your presence<\/p>\n<p>\u2026witness the processes that happen regardless of whether or not you are present<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>When you are <em>being witnessed<\/em> (use these ideas and\/or add your own): <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Allow yourself to be perceived by the environment\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;in 360\u00b0<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;in imprints + indentations<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;in touches, glances, and tones<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;close up and distanced<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;as part of and other<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;as imperceptible<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"#_ednref1\" name=\"_edn1\">[i]<\/a> also known as apparent death, playing possum, or feigning death and most typically performed by animals as a defense mechanism.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I. humiliation Move continuously to humiliate yourself.
